Predictions of the future

Imaginations running wild seemed to be today's theme. We talked of flying cars and loving robot companions. Of the future developments into immersive virtual reality to replicate the real world scenarios. Of space conquests and constructing an actual Star Wars Deathstar as a living habitat.

Don't laugh at us though, we will be great someday. Think of how people laughed at the Wright Brothers and their dream of flying in the 19th century - hardly decades later the first plane is born.
It is interesting to look at the opinions of the past on supposedly "impossible" inventions in their time, that have now become inventions we use on a daily basis. This just comes as an assurance that as long as we dare to think big, work towards the goal, we will eventually get there. For all you know, space rockets might become a commodity in everyone's own backyard!

It is not enough to be contented with good, we have to constantly strive for better. If we restrict ourselves to what we know and have, future possibilities will always be limited to these same few areas. We have learn how to adopt this mindset where "nothing is impossible" - A world devoid of restrictions where we are limited by nothing but our vast imaginations.

However, moving forward, we learnt that not all successful inventions are successful in the end. Besides actually fabricating the product, marketing is a vital portion to an innovation's success. We need to know and understand the product we have made, whether it has filled an unmet need or created its own niche market. We can follow from Creative Technology's experience, innovating a sound system that was far ahead of its time, but yet not receiving its recognition due.

There were many interesting innovations that were discussed spanning across distinctly different fields, but one specific innovation which I think holds much promise is in the field of augmented reality. With the amount of information that is being generated every moment, it never hurts to know more. The want for Information-on demand would become increasingly prevalent, and this is where augmented reality comes in, adding in extra layers of information for the user.

The minute you stop believing, you fall behind. The time you become a skeptic, you allow yourself to
be overtaken by others. A rising star is one who never fails to stop his longing for more. I have realized that regardless of the discussion topic, this same sentence has been uttered in almost every single TWC lessons. The only constant is change, but the question is: are you going to be a part of the change, or are you going to lead the change?

I would rate this session a 9/10.
